It’s that time of year that creeps up quickly and silently. Christmas is over, and the new year is just days away. 2018 was a great year, and we are excited to see what 2019 has in store for us as we strive to give our customers the best towing services in the St. Louis area.

With 2019 nearing, 2020 is only one year away. It’s a nice round number, and popular media, especially mid-century, seemed extremely optimistic about the technological advancements we would have at this point in history. Why not? Technology had grown by leaps and bounds over the sixty years from 1900 to 1960, so why wouldn’t the same be true going from 1960 to 2020? We have come a long way, with the internet changing the very foundation of commerce, communication, and interpersonal interactions.

Then again, Hanna-Barbera promised us an underwater city in 2020. We are still a ways off of other future predictions. This is welcome in the case of the original Star Trek, who predicted a cataclysmic world war in the 1990s. Demolition Man is set in the year 2032. In that film, murder is such a distant memory that cops don’t even know what to call it, cursing is illegal, and every restaurant is Taco Bell.

Biggest of all, according to The Jetsons, we’re only around 40 years away from robot maids, flying cars, and houses in the atmosphere. Now, this future isn’t that far out of the realm of possibility with the advancements in robotics and aviation in recent years, whimsical devices excluded. One can only hope that in the future out-of-control treadmills won’t be the danger prophesied by The Jetsons.

Until the flying cars we were promised have been delivered, the prospect of finding your vehicle broken down on the side of the road is a very real possibility. It may be abnormally warm this week, but cold weather is bound to return soon. When it does, make sure you’re not exposing yourself to the elements if you break down.
